The central issue is that there's no motivation for players to want to leave a crowded server and every reason for new players to want to join them there. I understand the problems and logistics of server crowding. So I'm going to have to spend several late nights watching for server maintenance or I miss my chance.Īs it stands, my first 40-hours of game play are staring at the character generation screen, quickly losing hope and getting largely discouraged at ever finding enjoyment in this game. My only hope is maybe sometime during the week IF maintenance happens during a time I'm awake overnight and I click fast enough. This is just an awful experience for a new player trying to join active members in the community. My friend got me to sign up for World Alerts to let me know when there would be an availability but everything I've read told me if I'm not clicking to join the server right that second when it's up, I won't get in so it seems like a tremendous amount of effort.Īnd this is just to get a new player to try the game with their friends. Sure enough, my free trial expired without ever having been able to touch the game.

I was told to try again overnight and at the wee hours of dawn. They weren't willing to transfer out, understandably. I downloaded the free trial and made my character and hit the wall when I couldn't join them on Balmung (surprise, surprise). So a bunch of my friends have been trying to get me to join them in Final Fantasy.
